SBTD Hop-THEME WEEK – Designer Series Paper Theme Week- Day 6

Welcome Back to Theme Week!
Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Monday 3/12 – Saturday 3/17

I am hope you are enjoying the Theme Weeks I have been doing for the last few months.  I really enjoy enjoying creating new ideas for you.  Today is the last day, for this month anyway.

Today is also the Stampers By The Dozen Blog Hop!  This month our theme is ‘Background Techniques’.  Although I did show a few ideas for a background using DSP this week, I wanted to be sure today was more of an inking technique.  However, I couldn’t leave my theme behind.  So, I decided to do both!  There are some really pretty images in the Stampin’ Up! DSPs, combine that with a little fussy cutting and you can really have some fun!

I have seen so many Amazing backgrounds created with stamps that you would never know could turn into that something that is totally different.  Those ladies (and gentlemen) creativity is really amazing.  As for me, I took the simpler road and let the fussy cut pieces from the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP dictate my background.  This is a super simple way to create a little magic for yourself.

First, I embossed he word Celebrate and sun-burst from the Sale-a-bration stamp set, Amazing You (the You was stamped after I created the background). I decided where I wanted the cut pieces of DSP which dictated where the sky would start and end.  It was as simple as sponging Soft Sky ink onto the Whisper White card stock (cs).  Since I knew where the castle  would be, I sponged the earth using Crumb Cake ink leaving a lighter "path" coming from the castle to where the knight and dragon would be (I wish you could see the glitter on all of the fussy cut pieces - so awesome!).  Sometimes a card just wants to be super simple...but a little extra never hurts. I think the result will please any of the younger king's brave knights.

One more simple idea for using the same DSP.  This one doesn’t have a technique background, I used DSP, but I wanted to include it since it does have another fussy cut idea.  This one for that little mermaid in your life.
